Medallion of Charles V
Wax medallion in which appears the bust of the Emperor in profile and half body, on rich corbel, with scepter and globe in each of the hands, flanked by two allegorical female figures. The head of the figure on the left was missing, which was beautifully restored, in terracotta, on the occasion of the exhibition of the fourth centenary of Charles V, in Toledo. The inscription around the medal, dated 1537, reads: “KAROLUS V GRATIA ROMAN IMPERATOR SEMPER AUGUSTUS REX HIS ANN SAL MDXXXVII AETATIS SUA XXXVII A”. It is a model, in very hard reddish wax, for the large medal of Charles V made by Reinhart, goldsmith of Leipzig. / Extracted from: A.A.V.V.: Instituto Gómez-Moreno (catalog). Granada, 1992, p. 176.
