Santa Clara

Talla en madera policromada

In this sculpture we see the saint standing, holding a reliquary in her right hand and a crosier in her left. Dressed in headdresses, tunic and mantle. The shaft of the staff has been restored. Its style is close to that of the late 15th century Burgos school of Gil de Siloe, with a clear Flemish influence. According to Gómez-Moreno Martínez, it may well have been part of an altarpiece, perhaps from the period of the Colegio de San Gregorio in Valladolid. / Extracted from: A.A.V.V.: Instituto Gómez-Moreno (catalog).
