AMIDA NIORAI

Madera dorada

Buddha seated with his legs in lotus flower posture with the soles of his feet up and his hands on his lap. He also shows the palms of his hands upwards in a gesture called dhyana mudra, of meditation. Amida leaves part of her thorax uncovered, covering the rest with a fine cloth marked by folds in which the artist has worked in great detail. Amida is the Japanese name of the Buddha Amitabha of Indian origin, associated with sunlight and the paradise of the West.
