MASK

Laca

This small mask is of the type originally used in the theater. It represents the violent aspect of people. In Japanese it is called Otobide or devil with a fierce grimace. The name comes from the large eyes that protrude from the exaltation of anger. Tradition also states that this mask represents Sugawara Michizane, a Heian literary figure and politician who was banished because of the slander of his rival.
