QUEEN OF HEAVEN
It is possibly the Taoist Goddess of Heaven, also called Ma Zhu Bo, to whom sailors dedicate their prayers for good weather during their voyages. She is usually accompanied by two female figures, of which the Rodriguez-Acosta Foundation only preserves one, considered her servants with special perceptions and ocular and auditory sensitivity. The goddess is shown in this piece dressed as a court lady, holding in her hands a tablet or scepter, and covered as a headdress with a cap crowned by a bird.
