The cacharrero (1895)
A large format composition with a costumbrist character, the work represents a scene with figures and a landscape characteristic of the high and popular neighborhoods of Granada: the caves of Sacromonte with its pitas, prickly pears and the diaphanous contemplation of the Vega of Granada. A clean and vibrant coloring is also the result of a first apprenticeship. This work is the most important attempt at painting made by the artist up to this moment. Presented by him to the exhibition of the Liceo de Málaga, under the title Venta de Cacharros, it obtained a silver medal, which would constitute the first triumph in his artistic career. / Extracted from: REVILLA UCEDA, M.A.: José María Rodríguez-Acosta 1878-1941.
